RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS

Creating Lasting Value Through Responsible Leadership

At LM Strategy Group, responsible business isn’t a standalone policy—it’s part of who we are.

We believe the organisations that thrive over the long term are those that create value responsibly: for their clients, their people, their communities and the environment.

The same principle shapes how we run our own business.

As a digitally enabled consultancy, we have consciously designed our business to minimise environmental impact, embrace flexible ways of working and create an environment where people can do their best thinking.

Our responsibility is not simply to deliver successful projects.

It is to leave every organisation stronger, every relationship better and every place we work more sustainable than we found it.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our Responsible Business Philosophy

We believe responsible business is built on three simple commitments.

01

Strengthen Organisations

Helping clients build resilient organisations through better strategy, stronger governance and collaborative leadership.

02

Invest in People

Creating an environment where flexibility, trust and wellbeing enable people to perform at their best.

03

Protect the Environment

Making practical decisions every day that reduce our environmental footprint while actively improving the natural environment around us.

These principles influence every decision we make.

DIGITAL CAPABILITIES

Digital by Design

Technology allows us to deliver exceptional consultancy services while significantly reducing waste and unnecessary travel.

Our business operates through secure, cloud-based digital systems that support efficient collaboration and responsible resource management.

Our approach includes:

  • Secure cloud-based document management.
  • Digital project management and collaboration platforms.
  • Electronic signatures and digital approvals.
  • Secure file sharing using encrypted links rather than large email attachments.
  • Electronic invoicing and finance systems.
  • Minimal paper storage and printing.
  • Digital-first client engagement wherever appropriate.

By embracing technology thoughtfully, we reduce our environmental impact while improving accessibility, security and efficiency for our clients.

Reducing Our Environmental Impact

As a consultancy, our operational footprint is naturally low, but we believe every organisation has a responsibility to continue improving.

We actively seek opportunities to reduce emissions and unnecessary resource consumption by:

  • Prioritising public transport where practical.
  • Combining meetings to minimise travel.
  • Delivering virtual workshops and meetings where they provide equal value.
  • Operating a predominantly remote and paper-light working model.
  • Reviewing technology and operational processes to improve efficiency.

A previous independent assessment of our operating model demonstrated that LM Strategy Group was already close to carbon neutral as a consultancy. Rather than treating that as a destination, we continue to review and improve the way we work.

Investing in Nature

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our client work.

At LM Strategy Group headquarters, we actively manage the surrounding environment to increase biodiversity and create spaces that benefit both wildlife and people.

Our ongoing environmental stewardship includes:

  • Creating and maintaining a 30-square-metre wildflower meadow, providing valuable habitat for pollinators and native plant species.
  • Sustainably managing more than 150 metres of native hedgerow, supporting birds, insects and small mammals while strengthening local biodiversity.
  • Maintaining two wildlife ponds, encouraging aquatic ecosystems and increasing habitat diversity.
  • Growing organic fruit, vegetables and herbs, supporting seasonal food production and reducing food miles.
  • Managing green spaces using wildlife-friendly techniques that encourage natural regeneration and minimise chemical intervention.

These are long-term investments that reflect our belief that environmental responsibility begins close to home.

Creating Space to Think

We believe the environment in which people work influences the quality of the ideas they generate.

Our headquarters has been designed to encourage creativity, reflection and collaboration.

Outdoor meeting areas provide opportunities for informal discussions, strategic planning and what we often describe as blue sky thinking—creating space for ideas to develop away from the distractions of a traditional office environment.

Some of our best strategic conversations happen while walking through the meadow, sitting beside the ponds or meeting outdoors.

For us, creating better environments helps create better thinking.

Supporting People

People perform at their best when they are trusted.

That belief underpins the way we work.

We operate a flexible working model that supports both professional excellence and personal wellbeing.

Where appropriate, our approach enables colleagues and associates to balance work alongside:

  • Caring responsibilities.
  • School and family commitments.
  • Medical appointments and personal wellbeing.
  • Flexible working patterns that support productivity.
  • Working alongside their four-legged companions—we’re proudly dog-friendly.

We recognise that everyone’s circumstances are different.

Rather than measuring performance by where people work, we focus on the quality of relationships, the outcomes delivered and the value created for our clients.

Pro Bono Work

Proud sponsors of our local team

On top of the work we do for clients and the environment, we think it's important to give something back to the local community. That includes supporting one of the local grass-roots football clubs in our area, the: Quarrydale United Football Club U11 Rangers.

The LM Canine Team

Our Work from Home Partners

Molly
This is Miss Molly, she’s the grand dame of the house and is 18 years old this year. A rescue pup from Battersea Dogs & Cats home, we like to think she still has a bit of a “London” accent despite living in the East Midlands for over a decade.
Winnipeg
M’Lady Winnipeg 👑 Infinitely loyal, ready to learn and eager to please Peggy is the baby of the pack at just 4 years old.
Purdey
Meet Purdey, our lolloper who forgets how big she is, always trying to fit into the tiniest spaces for her nap.
Tilley
Tilley is our crazy cocker spaniel. Always with a sock or a cuddly toy, she loves to lick, jump, and sleep.
Piper
Piper is a 3-year-old French Bulldog, powered almost entirely by treats and endless energy. When she's not carrying her favourite teddy around or exploring the woods, she's busy reminding the neighbourhood cats who's in charge. She firmly believes she's human and keeps everyone entertained with her larger-than-life personality.
Monty
This is Monty a 12 year old English working cocker spaniel who is driven by food at anytime of the day.
Milo
This is Milo a 8 year old English working cocker cross with an English setter who loves to carry his tennis balls around. You will find him either sleeping on his favourite sofa and blanket looking out into the garden or in the garden being on lookout for any birds that may try to land in his garden.
Rosco
Rosco is our gentle giant and the biggest fan of working from home. He takes his role as office dog very seriously—mostly by supervising from the sofa and making sure cuddle breaks happen on time!
Monty
Monty is our cheeky chappy, bouncing from place to place as if he’s permanently running late for a very important meeting. Always busy, always enthusiastic—and never quite sure what the rush is!
Tilly
Tilly is always looking elegant and takes her quality-control duties very seriously. With a watchful eye on everything, she’s always on hand to make sure everything is just right—preferably with a touch of style!
Bertie
Bertie is the wise old gentleman of the team, always ready to share his wealth of experience—whether it’s been asked for or not! No meeting is complete without a little Bertie wisdom.

Sustainability in Our Client Work

Many of the organisations we support are helping shape the future of housing, construction, workforce development, public policy and consumer protection.

Through our strategic advisory work, we help clients consider sustainability in its broadest sense.

This includes:

  • Building resilient organisations.
  • Strengthening governance and responsible leadership.
  • Supporting workforce development and future skills.
  • Encouraging collaboration across sectors.
  • Creating long-term social value.
  • Embedding environmental considerations within strategic decision-making.
  • Developing partnerships that deliver lasting impact.

For us, sustainability is not simply about carbon.

It is about creating organisations that remain relevant, resilient and capable of delivering value for future generations.

A Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Responsible business is not something that can ever be considered complete.

Like the organisations we advise, we continue to learn, adapt and improve.

We regularly review our environmental impact, embrace new technologies, challenge our own ways of working and look for opportunities to make a positive contribution to the communities and sectors we serve.

Because we believe every decision matters.

Every relationship matters.

And every organisation has the opportunity to create a lasting, positive impact.

Our Commitment

Our responsibility is threefold.

  • N
    To leave every organisation stronger
  • N
    To leave every relationship better.
  • N
To leave every place we work more sustainable than we found it.

That's what responsible business means to us.
