Supporting organisations to navigate complexity, strengthen relationships and deliver lasting impact.

Every organisation faces different challenges. Some are responding to policy change. Others are strengthening governance, engaging stakeholders or developing long-term strategy.

While every engagement is unique, our approach remains consistent: creating clarity, building trust and turning strategic ambition into practical delivery.

The examples below illustrate the type of work we undertake across industry, government and membership organisations.

Strengthening Industry Leadership Through Collaboration

The Challenge

The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) has represented the home improvement sector for more than 50 years, bringing together manufacturers, installers, trade associations, certification bodies, consumer organisations and other key stakeholders.

As government priorities around net zero, building safety, workforce development and consumer protection accelerated, NHIC recognised an opportunity to strengthen its strategic role within the sector. The organisation wanted to enhance its influence, strengthen governance, increase member engagement and become an even more effective bridge between government and industry.

Delivering that ambition required more than organisational change. It required stronger collaboration, clearer strategic priorities and a coordinated programme of engagement across a diverse stakeholder landscape.

Our Approach

LM Strategy Group provides executive leadership and strategic advisory support to NHIC, working closely with the Board, members and strategic partners to develop and deliver the organisation's long-term vision.

Our work has included:

  • Facilitating organisational strategy and business planning.
  • Supporting governance development and Board effectiveness.
  • Strengthening relationships with government departments, regulators and industry partners.
  • Establishing and facilitating strategic working groups addressing workforce development, consumer protection, competence and energy efficiency.
  • Developing stakeholder engagement programmes that encourage collaboration across traditionally separate parts of the industry.
  • Leading strategic communications and thought leadership to reinforce NHIC's position as a trusted industry voice.
  • Designing and delivering high-profile engagement programmes, conferences and parliamentary events that bring together policymakers and industry leaders.

Throughout the engagement, our focus has been on creating alignment between organisational priorities, member value and wider industry outcomes.

Outcomes

Today, NHIC continues to strengthen its reputation as a respected, independent organisation that brings together diverse parts of the home improvement sector around shared priorities.

Recent initiatives have included collaborative programmes supporting workforce development, engagement with government on national policy, industry-wide working groups, strategic partnerships and thought leadership focused on improving standards, consumer confidence and long-term sector resilience.

By strengthening governance and creating more effective stakeholder engagement, the organisation is increasingly recognised as a trusted convenor capable of facilitating constructive conversations between industry, government and the wider supply chain.

Lasting Impact

The most significant outcome has not been a single project or initiative.

It has been the development of stronger relationships, improved collaboration and a clearer strategic direction that enables NHIC to continue influencing positive change across the sector.

LM Strategy Group continues to support NHIC as it develops its long-term vision, ensuring strategy remains closely connected to practical delivery and measurable impact.
